Braddon candidate launched

18/7/2010
The Tasmanian Greens Lead Senate Candidate, Senator Christine Milne, today launched the Greens candidate for the Federal seat of Braddon in Burnie.

Scott Jordan is an experienced campaigner having cut his political teeth on local issues such as campaigning to stop new high voltage overhead powerlines in residential areas.

Most recently, Scott has campaigned successfully to defeat the destructive and divisive Tarkine Road and continues to advocate for a redirection of the proposed funding for the road to go into developing tourism potential across the Tarkine and the North West.

“Scott Jordan brings with him the kind of skills and experience necessary to be an effective representative for Braddon.” Senator Milne opened. “He is local, he is actively engaged in what happens in the region and he is passionate to the core about seeing Braddon fulfil its potential.”

Mr Jordan has worked with the Shorewell Park community on an initiative to help reduce crime by 86% and has worked for over 13 years in Youth Work and Community Development.

“I will be taking each day of the campaign as an opportunity to tell people in Braddon about the sorts of opportunities I see for this region. Braddon really does have enormous potential and can shake off recent years of uncertainty over jobs and social infrastructure. Braddon can become a great example of how to showcase what Tassie does best using the assets that make Tassie unique.” Mr Jordan commented.

Mr Jordan is married and father to 4 children.
