Lyons team announced

Tasmanian Greens leader Nick McKim has launched the Greens full candidate ticket for the Lyons electorate that will be contesting the forthcoming 2010 state election. Mr McKim said that the Lyons team is committed to improving access to quality education and health services in rural and regional areas, as well as addressing tackling the rising cost of living that is impacting on so many Tasmanians. The Greens’ Lyons state election ticket comprises:
Tim Morris MP:
Lead candidate for Lyons, standing MP Tim Morris has represented the people of Lyons in the Tasmanian Parliament since he was first elected in 2002. He has worked tirelessly to prevent chemical contamination of the state’s waterways, greater investment in rail infrastructure, public housing, education and health. He has formerly worked in the agricultural, construction and tourism industries and lives in New Norfolk.
Karen Cassidy:
Karen has a background in small business management in the health care sector. She will work in Lyons for greater quality of rural health and education, and for improving opportunities for small community businesses across the state. She has three young children and is currently employed as Party Manager of the Tasmanian Greens.
Sharon Prior:
Former Sorell councillor and current Team Leader for Conservation Volunteers Australia, Sharon has many years experience working for the inclusion of community values in land management and planning processes. Having grown up in Tasmania, she is dedicated to enhancing Tasmania's standing on the world stage. Sharon believes that Tasmania can be a global leader in renewable energy initiatives and alternative power solutions.
Lyn Cleary:
Former publisher and photographer Lyn, from Kayena, is now a freelance journalist and graphic designer. She works to raise the profile of social justice and inclusion issues and to promote integrity and transparency in planning processes.
Karl Stevens:
Karl is a local small business owner and currently is also a Greens councillor on the West Tamar Council. He lives in Beaconsfield and is concerned with proper assessment of all developments and restoring community trust in governance.
Nick McKim MP said the team has the experience and the integrity to deliver for the people of Lyons and Tasmania.
