The Young Greens are having a winter beanie festival fundraiser and are calling all beanie makers to create warm, crazy, fun and colourful beanies to donate to our festival. We are going to parade the beanies on a cat walk in winter next year where the beanies will be auctioned. All funds will go towards the Tasmanian Young Greens to assist with combating climate change.
Send a message out to cut back on energy usage at this time of climate crisis, especially because Tasmania is in a drought and producing minimal hydro power with our dams at an all time low.
Beanies can be made out of anything from wool to recycled plastic bags!
Send or drop your beanies off to the Greens Shop or to Yani

Did you know… that half the world, nearly three billion people, live on less than two dollars a day? And over a billion people are illiterate – unable to read or sign their name!! If you’re reading this, I reckon you’re literate, and the chances are you probably live on more than $2 a day too. So read on…
“Ripple.org” is a search engine aiming to help the people out that really need it! And the cool thing is that you can join the movement… a click and a search both donate money to charities which are fighting poverty around the globe. It’s powered by google and funded by ads. Visit the website to find out more about how it works, or to try it out, to make it your home page, to spread the word, and to make a difference in a very easy way. It’s pretty damn awesome, so make it a habit!

The logging on Bruny Island continues .. the hills of beautiful forest directly behind Adventure bay are planned to be logged , 30 ha just near the well known Mavista walks and reserve area. Burning of the coupes will also be involved , contributing more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere!
This is a ludicrous decision made. The beautiful forests of Bruny island are being eaten up and its time the world knew about it. Bruny Island is home to the endangered swift parrot and logging was stopped last year because a high number of the species was identified…and now it continues ..what about the species???
Bruny island is famous for its amazing features and is currently booming with a great tourism industry. The continuation of logging threatens the tourism industry of Bruny island , endangered species and the reputation of Bruny island. There are few residents being employed in the logging industry on Bruny island, less than 10 and with over a 100 employed in the tourism industry the obvious is clear. Logging must stop. No forests for Money. Keep the carbon in the forests!!

After decades of repression, Tibetans are crying out to the world for change. China’s leaders are right now making a crucial choice between escalating brutality or dialogue that could determine the future of Tibet, and China.
we can have a say ,but it will take an avalanche of people power to get the governments attention. The Dali Lama has called for restraint and dialogue and he needs everyone to support him. Help Tibet get the respect it deserves!
